ASTM International to Host Sixth Autonomy in Aviation Symposium
“Operationalizing Autonomy: Novel to Normalized” is set for Nov. 12-13.
Jul 17, 2025
ASTM International is hosting its 6th Annual Autonomy in Aviation Symposium, organized by ASTM’s autonomy design and operations in aviation administrative committee (AC377).
The symposium will be held Nov. 12-13, 2025, at the Santa Clara Marriott in Santa Clara, CA and will be titled: “Operationalizing Autonomy: Novel to Normalized”
ASTM AC377 promotes collaboration among aviation autonomy stakeholders to improve safety and efficiency in aviation.
Attendees will:
- Examine and analyze the challenges of integrating automation into the operational infrastructure of our existing aviation system.
- Identify specific paths to operationalization of automation, from introductory operations toward broad automation at scale.
- Explore the enablers and barriers to moving automation forward in our operational infrastructure, hearing from both industry and government experts.
- Learn how operators can employ autonomy at the fleet level, with lessons learned from other industries.
“Our sixth annual symposium will look at the relationship between automation on and off board the aircraft, and future operational and traffic management capabilities to enable steps towards future automation of the system in which the aircraft operates,” said Wes Ryan, Northrop Grumman fellow in airworthiness and chair of AC377. “We’ll also explore the key role of standards in safely moving the industry forward.”
